Hoi allemaal,

Het schaakseizoen loopt langzaam ten einde, maar we zitten nog lang niet stil. We hebben nog allerlei leuke activiteiten op de planning – online, op de club én daarbuiten. Ook in de zomervakantie kun je op verschillende plekken blijven schaken. En we kijken natuurlijk alvast vooruit naar het nieuwe seizoen.

Online schaakpret op 30 mei en 6 juni

Op vrijdag 30 mei en vrijdag 6 juni is er geen clubavond in het Olympus. Maar we schakelen gewoon over naar online toernooien via chess.com:

Jeugdtoernooi om 19:00 uur
Open toernooi om 20:15 uur

Seizoensafsluiting in juni

We sluiten het seizoen af met een aantal gezellige clubavonden:

Vrijdag 13 juni
De laatste officiële training van het seizoen, met een leuke afsluiting voor de trainingsgroep.
Vrijdag 20 juni
Voor kinderen die hun proefexamen hebben gehaald is er het officiële stappenexamen.
Voor de overige leden is er een rapidtoernooi op de club.
Vrijdag 27 juni
De grote slotavond van het seizoen, georganiseerd door Geert en Lorens. Wat er precies op het programma staat blijft nog geheim, maar reken op een feestelijke avond met prijsuitreiking en verrassende schaakactiviteiten.

Alle avonden beginnen op de gebruikelijke tijd (18:45) in het Olympus.

Extra toernooien en evenementen

Zaterdag 14 juni & 28 juni – NK Schoolschaken in Rivers
De beste basisschoolteams van Nederland strijden in Arnhem om het kampioenschap. Wij wensen onze geplaatste scholen heel erg veel succes.
Zaterdag 21 juni – Schaakfestival in Rozet Arnhem (gratis)
ASV organiseert een feestelijk gratis schaakevenement in Rozet met simultaan, snelschaken, puzzels, workshops en meer.
Voor sommige onderdelen moet je je vooraf aanmelden.

Zaterdag 5 juli – Jeugdtoernooi Schaakstad Apeldoorn

Zowel ONK als ONJK trekken jaarlijks honderden deelnemers en zijn een unieke ervaring voor iedere schaker.

Belangrijke mededeling: contributie nieuwe leden

Er is iets misgegaan in onze interne communicatie over de contributie voor een aantal nieuwere leden. Komende week ontvangen de betrokken leden een aparte e-mail met uitleg en verdere informatie.

Start nieuw seizoen & lidmaatschap opzeggen

Ons nieuwe schaakseizoen start op vrijdag 29 augustus 2025. We kijken ernaar uit om dan iedereen weer te zien op de club!

Soms besluiten kinderen om te stoppen met schaken. Natuurlijk vinden we dat jammer, maar dat begrijpen we. Opzeggen van het lidmaatschap moet uiterlijk vrijdag 22 augustus 2025. Dit kan uitsluitend per e-mail via: ledenadministratie@arnhemseschaakacademie.nl

We hopen jullie de komende weken nog vaak te zien – online, op de club, bij toernooien of in de zomer. Samen maken we er een mooi schaakjaar van!

The chess season is coming to an end, but we still have plenty of great activities planned – both online and at the club. And even during the summer holidays, there are tournaments and events where you can continue to play. We're also already looking ahead to the new season.

Online chess fun – May 30 and June 6

On Friday, May 30 and Friday, June 6, there will be no club evening at the Olympus venue. But don't worry – we’ll still be playing, just online!

Each evening, we’ll host two fun tournaments on chess.com:

Youth tournament at 19:00
Open tournament at 20:15

End-of-season activities in June

We're wrapping up the season with some fun and festive club evenings:

Friday, June 13
The final training session of the season, with a cheerful ending for the training group.
Friday, June 20
A double programme:
Kids who passed their practice exam will take the official Step exam.
Other members can play in a relaxed rapid tournament at the club.
Friday, June 27
Our grand season finale, hosted by Geert and Lorens. The exact program remains a secret, but expect a festive evening with prizes and surprise chess activities.

All events start at our usual club times (18:45 aanwezig) at Olympus.

Extra events and tournaments

Friday, June 14 & Friday, June 28 – Dutch Schools Championship (Rivers)
The best primary school teams in the country will compete for the national title. We wish our participating players a lot of good luck.
Saturday, June 21 – Chess Festival in Rozet Arnhem (free entry)
Our friends from ASV are hosting a fun chess event at Rozet in central Arnhem, featuring simuls, blitz games, puzzles, workshops, and more.
Some activities require registration.

Summer tournaments in Dieren

Want to keep playing during the holidays? Two major tournaments take place in Dieren this summer:

Open Dutch Championship (ONK) – for adults (and young players)

These tournaments attract players from all over the country and are a fun and challenging way to improve your chess and meet others.

Important notice: contribution for new members

Due to a miscommunication, some newer members may not have received their membership payment letter.
Affected families will receive a separate email in the coming week with details and clarification.

The new season starts on Friday, August 29, 2025, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back.
